Sue Schmitt, DTM

Sue Schmitt grew up in rural New Hampshire. She graduated from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts with a BA in Communication in 1986 at 35. In 1990, Sue moved to Iowa City to go to graduate school but never got there. Instead, she continued to work with older adults or organizations connected to elder services. After ten years as the Director of Post-Acute Care, Sue retired in 2017 from Meth-Wick Community in Cedar Rapids. Sue became a DTM in 2020 as a Downtowners and Crossroads Storytellers member. She is the CEO of The TellersBridge, Inc., a non-profit organization hosting live storytelling events in Eastern Iowa. Sue is a certified etiquette consultant trained at The Etiquette Institute in St. Louis.

2. How do I purchase a ticket for the 2024 District 19 Conference?

Tickets can be purchased online through the District 19 Eventbrite page. A link along with pricing information can be found on the registration page.


3. What is the dress code for this event?

While there is no set dress code for the 2024 District 19 Conference we recommend business causal for educational sessions and business or formal attire for the banquet.


4. I have never attended a District Conference. Why should I attend and do I get anything as a first timer?

Attending a Toastmasters District 19 Conference is a great way to see the organization from outside the walls of your club. The takeaways from a conference weekend are endless. The weekend is packed full of educational opportunity with incredible sessions, networking with friends both new and old and the chance to be a part of the District level of the Evaluation and International Speech Contests, to name a few.Plus, every first timer is entitled to the First Timer Bill of Rights. This includes things like being the first in line for meals. More information is provided at the time of check-in.


5. I and/or my club would like to contribute a basket for the basket raffle and/or the hospitality suite. Who do I get in touch with?

The basket raffle is a key fundraising tool that helps to ensure our conference is successful. For more information or to let the conference committee know you are interested please complete the contact form.

No need to worry. Physical tickets are not required. Once you have successfully registered you are all set. There is nothing to bring to conference other than yourself.


8. I bought a ticket and now cannot attend. What options do I have?
